Happy Thursday! I thought I'd do a quick post sharing how I store my ever growing stash of washi. I wanted something easy and also something where I could store all of it in one place. Initially I had used a wire basket but then that turned into two, then three. I could never see the washi at the bottom of the baskets so they didn't get used that much.

While I was out one day looking at embroidery floss I saw the flat plastic boxes and figured it would be perfect for keeping my washi organized. Plus, the box is see-through so double win.

For this project you will need:

Embroidery floss bobbins

Embroidery floss box (there's various sizes)

I keep all of my loose bobbins on a giant ring, which you can find here.

I keep an extra box to store all of my washi that is too wide to fit on the bobbins. This box is almost full so I'll be starting another one soon. It took quite some time winding all of the washi around the bobbins. I suggest Netflix + a large cup of tea.

Everyone has the same amount of hours in the week, right? I've been wanting to try a time tracking app for a while and finally found one that I like. It's called Life Cycle and is available where ever you get your apps.

Every day you are presented with a donut like the ones above. For every new location you go to, it will ask you where you were and also to categorize it. There are presets in the app but you can also create your own.

At the beginning of every month, you are presented with a donut from all of the past month's data. Here's a view of mine from this past November.

It breaks down your locations. As you can see I visited 41 unique locations. It also shows where I spent the most time, apart from home and work.

Life Cycle also compares the past month to previous months before and lets you know how you did on home/work balance.

Apparently I don't shop much!

I call this one my bad habit tab. Taco Bell is definitely my downfall. I know. I'm working on it.

Lucky for me, my commute to work back in November was only 4 minutes each way. I'm interested to see what it will jump to once I start commuting to Boston.

And finally, the whole monthly donut, broken down by category. It's been nice to look back and see where I'm spending my time. I'd like to find another app that crunches the numbers even more, so if anyone knows of one, let me know!

I tried to mix in reds and pinks this week with it being Valentine's but ended up with pinks and purples instead. Oh well.

Week 7 found me traveling up to Boston again for another interview with the transplant team. Initially we had scheduled for Wednesday morning so I hopped on the train for the hour long trip. Half way there I checked my email and discovered that the interview had to be rescheduled. So I ended up heading into South Station, grabbed a coffee at Starbucks and got right back on the train to head home. It gave me time to get caught up on my reading.

So glad to see The Hundred-Foot Journey pop up on Netflix. I remember wanting to see it when I came out in the theaters but got busy and didn't make it. I love Helen Mirren and this movie was really good.

We also *finally* received some snow. Not a whole lot, but still. Alpha stickers are from an old Studio Calico kit. 

I've always wanted super curly hair so this Snapchat filter was perfect! Rick got me a box of chocolates for Valentine's but unfortunately it didn't come with the little description card so I ended up shoving my finger in the middle of each one to make sure it didn't have any nuts. 

Finished Sweet Little Lies and happy to hear that Caz has a new book coming out in July.

Still incorporating the journaling cards from In A Creative Bubble. Love, love, love Geralyn's style.

We started moving the shop into the spare room and managed to get about half of it out on Saturday with the help of the boys. After filling up the kitchen (and still haven't cleared out the spare room), we decided that maybe we should rent a storage unit instead. A quick stop by Five Guys before taking Mason home.

It still amazes me how much we managed to cram into the shop and still be able to work around everything.

Also, please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks about the candy paper dots when they see they enamel ones.

This week was all about brights and whites. Sometimes it seems like if you try to throw in one bright card in a not-so-bright layout it just throws everything off. 

Again, I'm using up all of my old stash and *trying* not to buy anything new. I have picked up a few cards from In A Creative Bubble though.

I try to stay away from politics for the most part but that card of the hand clap heard around the world was just too good not to include. I'm still loving those cork and gold glitter monthly pieces from Studio Calico.

I've been waiting forever to use that Heck Yeah patch and used my Tiny Attacher to staple it to a card.

I snagged the circles jpg from Google and turned it into a card. Love all of the colors!

A few weeks ago we moved my Gramma into a nursing home and I inherited *some* of her yarn. Can't believe that's not even all of it. I have some fun new projects lined up and I'm going to give hats a go to give out to some of the homeless people that hang around South Station. Scarves too. Figured I'd put it to good use.

So glad this is on Netflix, as I missed it when it was in the theaters. Hilarious.

For the yarn cards, I opened the photo in Photoshop, cropped it in two and printed out each side on a card. So. Much. Yarn. The meh. card was perfect for this week. I found out that I didn't get the position with the transplant team. Boo. (This was one of the rounded corner cards from an old SC kit that I chopped down and added to some patterned cardstock.)

We also celebrated Braelynn's first birthday with a donut themed party. She's so stinking' cute.

Also, that old lady filter on Snapchat is by far my favorite. So sassy.

I was able to snap a photo of the cake before it was demolished. Rick's sister, Lisa made it and it turned out awesome!

Plugging along week after week and enjoying it immensely. It'll be so great to look back at the end of the year. Day In The Life is coming up on the 26th and I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate that into my layout. Stay tuned!

I'm not sure what kind of magic takes place when you diffuse these two oils together but let me tell you, it is MAGIC. Because who wouldn't want their house to smell like a root beer float?

As you can see, I took all of ONE photo last week. Even so, I'm pretty happy with how the spread turned out. 

There was also a lot of Netflix happening. If you guys haven't seen Fyre yet, and think your life is an absolute shit show, watch it. You'll feel so much better. Trust me. Also, Ellen's Relatable is hilarious.

My dad and I had breakfast one morning at diner nearby so I added a photo of the counter and added some yellow alphas. (I'm sloooowly using up my alpha stash - and swapping the rest away on Swap-bot.)

That Be A Nice Human card was a perfect touch next to the Ellen card. She always ends her show telling everyone to be nice to each other so I figured I'd add it to the layout.

I know I've mentioned it in past posts, but Google is your friend when it comes to book covers, movie posters, etc. Right click, save, print. Easy peasy.

I'm still using journaling cards from In A Creative Bubble for all of my layouts. I've been eyeing some of Geralyn's travel items for my PNW 3x8 album. 

Happy Little Moments: getting my Book of The Month box in the mail every month. I'm almost caught up on past books. And I can't wait because February's book looks amazing!

Another In A Creative Bubble journal card. And I finally got to use the Hey Girl Hey card.

Dumplin was SO good. *I might have cried a little* The Prove Them Wrong sticker was perfect.

While the rest of the US was dealing with the polar vortex, we only saw temps in the teens. And still haven't seen much snow. I'm still waiting.

These super easy, kinda quick Harry Potter house ornaments are a breeze to put together and you only need two things: cardstock + clear ornaments.

Michael's (or wherever you get your craft supplies) always has these clear ornaments around the holidays. I chose the plastic ones because, kids. 

For these you'll need cardstock in red, yellow, green, blue and black. I used my paper cutter to trim them to 1/4" thick, cut them into 6" sections and then wound each strip around a small wooden dowel. A pen or a pencil would work just as well too. 

Once you have your curled strips (I used 4 of each color), pop the top off of your ornament and slide the strips in. Replace the cap and they're ready to hang!

The only thing I worry about is the paper uncurling over time. But I could easily cut more strips if I needed to. I'm super happy with how these turned out and can't wait for December!
